About the Project

The Peterborough School’s wanted to completely redevelop their EYFS area. We made it our mission to create a space that provided ample opportunities for the pupils to flourish, participate safely and explore various forms of activity.

We understand the importance of physical activity and cognitive development during early years, so we incorporated a range of climbing structures and cognitive play elements throughout the playground. The climbing structures included our Action Zone Climbing Structure, Up and Over Log Den and Fitness and Adventure Trail. All of these structures not only provide children with an opportunity to engage in physical exercise but to also stimulate their gross motor skills, coordination, strength and spatial awareness, as they navigate the frames, ropes and balance beams.

In addition to physical play, we wanted to harness the power of messy play to promote cognitive development. We installed our Water Play Table with Gutter Flow Panel, Sliding Lid Sandbox and Mud Kitchen area which encourages children to explore textures, shapes and materials fostering their sensory experience. Children are also encouraged to improve on their collaborative, social and problem solving skills.

To nurture creativity and boost children’s confidence, we added a Stage and Story Telling area. We recognise the power of storytelling and role play in stimulating the imagination and expanding language skills. This designated area allows children to invent stories, read poems and perform in front of their peers.

We installed safety surfacing throughout including a Rubber Wetpour Road track with graphics for the children to engage in as well as an outdoor carpet with inlaid games and graphics to allow access all year round.

“After obtaining three quotes for our playground project, we decided to go with Playground Imagineering for the following reasons: I was very impressed with their presentation and proposal as they planned the project with our needs in mind and I felt I was receiving a bespoke service rather than an off the peg solution. As a result the product matches our needs and that of the site perfectly. They were always professional,  responsive and when changes were requested, they were dealt with smoothly and without question. I would have no hesitation in recommending Playground Imagineering.”
