Hindley Junior and Infant School

We created a Peace and Quiet Garden in the playground so the children have a place to socialise and reflect.

About the Project

As much as physical play is important for children to develop the fundamental skills needed for a healthy lifestyle, a much needed place to reflect and release stress is just as important.

Hindley Junior and Infant School came to us asking for a calming outdoor environment which could cater to all of their pupils and even teachers.

We made sure the Peace and Quiet area was inviting for the children by offering enough space for groups to sit alongside each other, next to the flourishing flower beds. It’s not only a place to relax, but a cool hang out area to build relationships with their fellow peers. This type of positive environment can benefit behaviour, communication and emotional regulation.

Along with new equipment, we have also worked closely with the caretaker at Hindley Junior and Infants School to upkeep the existing equipment and surfacing. The heavy use of equipment by students daily means that the equipment and surfacing will deteriorate over time and will require maintenance. We have carried out numerous repairs to the existing trail and surfacing below to keep the are safe and usable.

The school also have an outdoor classroom which can be used for taking the class outdoors by seating up to 30 children or used during break times as another social seating space. With a full height panel on one side for storage and a dry wipe board and the surrounding sides clad half way up, this provides shelter for its users and the ability to take learning outdoors all year round.

St. Hugh of Lincoln Primary School

“After obtaining three quotes for our playground project, we decided to go with Playground Imagineering for the following reasons: I was very impressed with their presentation and proposal as they planned the project with our needs in mind and I felt I was receiving a bespoke service rather than an off the peg solution. As a result the product matches our needs and that of the site perfectly. They were always professional,  responsive and when changes were requested, they were dealt with smoothly and without question. I would have no hesitation in recommending Playground Imagineering.”
