About the Project
The customer and the Objectives
We’re thrilled to announce the completion of a transformative playground project at Higher Lane Primary School! The school approached as they wanted to revamp an underused, multi-level space that had become overgrown and uneven, as well as revitalise an uninspiring portion of their playground. Working closely with their EYFS Lead, we took the time to fully understand their vision, focusing on how the redesigned space could support both teachers and young pupils.
Our Approach
With this insight, we created a vibrant, inviting space for the children to explore. In the overgrown area, we created a fenced, zoned Forest Area, filled with bark to provide a sensory experience and encourage exploration under the canopy of existing trees. This area features mushroom seating, den-making spaces, and measuring scales, offering pupils a variety of nature-inspired activities. We also added mark-making boards, a handy storage shed, and a large sandpit sheltered by a timber canopy, helping bring the classroom outdoors.
In the main playground, we installed a bespoke tree structure equipped with an HDPE slide, rock wall, log ramp, and interactive play panels, providing multiple options for active play and physical development. Additionally, we designed an interactive bike track complete with a petrol pump, village shop, traffic lights, and a bridge, creating a miniature world where children can engage in imaginative play.
Summary
We’re especially proud to have partnered with Higher Lane Primary to bring their vision to life, and we’re grateful for the feedback from teachers and pupils who have expressed their appreciation for the smooth process and supportive approach of our on-site team throughout the project. The children are thrilled with their new playground, and it’s wonderful to see their excitement as they explore and enjoy every part of this newly enriched outdoor space.
