About the Project
What an exciting journey it was bringing the ‘Peace Train’ project to life! With the generous support from the Yousef Islam Foundation, Shaftesbury Park Primary School and trust embarked on a creative venture with clear objectives.
Despite the challenge of a tight space, we worked harmoniously alongside the existing garden, ensuring accessibility for parents while retaining ample free space. The ‘Peace Train’ itself is a marvel, crafted with eco-friendly recycled plastic ‘wood,’ cost-effective treated timber, and sturdy stainless steel.
The ‘Peace Train’ is not just a static structure; it’s a catalyst for sparking children’s imagination and fostering creative play. Its design, inspired by the enchanting world of a ‘Peace Train,’ provides a captivating backdrop for imaginative scenarios. As children engage with the train, they are prompted to embark on exciting journeys of their own creation, fueling their imaginations and encouraging role-playing adventures.
The recycled plastic ‘wood’ construction, with its natural material feel, invites tactile exploration, enhancing sensory experiences. The ticket office, resembling a miniature railway building, becomes a hub for storytelling and pretend play, as children take on roles as conductors, passengers, or station masters. The incorporation of the HDPE plastic train-themed decorations and a whimsical felt roof adds a delightful aesthetic touch. To complete the experience, we incorporated wetpour surfacing with inlaid graphics, seamlessly continuing the charming train theme throughout the playground. We’re thrilled with the result and can’t wait for everyone to hop aboard this wonderful journey of peace and play!
