About the Project
We had the pleasure to work with St Thomas Primary school to transform their EYFS, KS1 & 2 playgrounds. Despite having a small uneven outdoor space we were able to ensure we utilised every bit of space they had to maximise play value for the pupils.
Their playground had an unused embankment and areas which were prone to flooding and getting muddy. We completely resurfaced and laid our hardwearing, drainable artificial grass across the embankment. This completely brightened up the area and now allows the children to use this area all year round.
We installed our Hill Top Tower Climbing Structure upon the Embankment which helps children build upon their strength, balance and resilience whilst they climb up the Log and Rock Walls, run across the Play Platform and race down the Slide. We also installed a number of play panels within the structure for cognitive development and imaginative play.
Alongside the Hill Top Tower Climbing Structure we installed a Rope Pull up Log Ramp for the children to also test their strength and stamina.
We installed our Water Panels with pivoting guttering to allow the children to interact and understand the concept of water. Along with the Water Panel we incorporated a Water Table for the children to expand on their science knowledge. By splashing, scooping and pouring, the children improve their fine motor skills and explore their senses. This makes for an exciting and social experience for children as they learn and have fun together.
Finally we designed a Magic Garden Area for sensory development. We incorporated Mirrored panels, Large planters, Sensory Wall with different Textures and a Light Reflective Disco Ball within the decking. All of these elements offer a therapeutic and safe way for children to explore their senses.
