About the Project

The Customer and Objectives

We’re delighted to have completed an exciting playground transformation at Woodland Grange Primary School! The Headteacher approached us looking to revamp their EYFS playground, which was previously an uninviting tarmac space. They wanted to create a more engaging and stimulating environment for pupils while also revitalising some of their existing equipment, such as their sandpit.

Our Approach

To bring their vision to life, we redesigned key areas of the playground to encourage creative, sensory, and social play. The mud kitchen and messy play zone were enhanced with a new play-grade treated timber mud kitchen, a bucket and pulley, scales, a chalkboard, and a mushroom table with seats. We enclosed the area with play bark to create a softer, more natural play environment.

To further enhance the natural feel, we installed an imitation fire pit, den-making posts, and mushroom seating. Large planters were placed around the space to promote exploration and learning about the natural world. As a finishing touch, we added a beautiful rose archway, providing a welcoming entrance to this newly enriched outdoor area.

They had an existing sandpit, which they wanted to section into two areas—one for sand play and the other for flexible use, to maximise its functionality. To make the most of the open space, we also incorporated an interactive bike track surrounding the sandpit, creating an additional play element. Alongside it, we installed a bike shed, providing a dedicated storage space for bikes and scooters.

Summary
