We have worked with Gaskell Primary School over a number of years to transform different playgrounds for different age groups.
About the Project
We have had the pleasure to work with Gaskell Primary School over a number of years redeveloping different areas of their school playground. We provided the children with a lot more opportunity to take part in physical activity to improve their overall well-being and provide them with equipment that will promote a healthy lifestyle.
We incorporated three variations of Fitness & Adventure Trail within their EYFS, KS1 and 2 areas. This type of equipment allows the children to develop their balance, coordination, as well as upper and lower body strength. Creating different obstacles and challenges along the trail helps build confidence and self-esteem as they aim to succeed. With such a wide range of Trail items in our catalogue, we are able to pick the best to suit the age range and ability of the students on each playground and allow for progression and development.
A change from physical activity, we installed a Weather Station which is a great opportunity for children to get to understand the elements. Away from the classroom walls, having an outdoor weather station will excite the children as they learn about the patterns of the weather and expand on their science knowledge. They’ll learn how the wind changes direction and pick up speeds, how humidity and rainfall relate to each other and other interesting facts.
We installed our Timber Planters next to the Weather Station as another way for children to learn how the natural world works. It allows the children to work independently or in groups, getting their hands dirty as they dig or grow their own plants, herbs or vegetables. They discover natural materials, have a sense of responsibility and refine their fine motor skills. Simple bench seats in the area also allow for quieter space to sit and reflect or undertake tasks in the great outdoors.
Additional seating and sail shades have also been added to the playgrounds to create shaded areas for children to sit and relax with friends.
