About the Project
We were excited to start our project at St. Ann’s Primary School, to transform the outdoor areas for infants and juniors, turning them into vibrant and inspiring spaces. Our enthusiasm stemmed from the vision of creating environments that stimulate young minds, foster active engagement, and provide positive experiences for each and every child. The project reflects our commitment to enhancing the overall well-being and educational journey of the students at St. Ann’s Primary School
In the junior area, we have established a tranquil Peace Prayer garden featuring a cross-shaped planter, providing a focal point for reflection. The garden also includes comfortable and modest bench seating, as well as sleeper stools designed for children to contemplate and unwind. The entire space is thoughtfully enclosed by a timber picket fence, accentuated with strategically placed planters and rose arches at either end, contributing to the overall aesthetic. To ensure a comfortable experience in all weather conditions, a waterproof sail shade has been installed over the area, offering protection against the elements and enhancing the serene atmosphere of the garden.
Revitalisation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) play area involved the transformation of a previously uninviting large blank tarmac playground. The entire space was revamped with a vibrant wetpour surfacing, creating a child-friendly environment for exploration and play. This redevelopment incorporated various colors of wetpour to craft a visually engaging track encircling the perimeter. The track featured playful graphics such as directional arrows, give-way lines, parking bays, a zebra crossing, and a stop line, enhancing both the aesthetics and interactive elements of the EYFS play area. The track is dynamic and a stimulating experience for children to build upon their gross motor skills and understand road safety.
In the heart of the track, we covered the area with artificial grass to establish a dedicated island for physical play. This space features a crawl-through tunnel mound bordered by sleeper sides, along with an array of mini trail elements designed for physical engagement. These include mini swinging steps, a mini Burma bridge, a mini slalom, and mini parallel ropes, complemented by a sunrise play unit. Each of these components contributes to the development of strength, coordination, balance, resilience, and offers imaginative play.
